Painted School Stage Curtains

This Album of Painted School Stage Curtains documents 13 painted stage curtains dating 1930's to 1950’s not previously inventoried or studied. Friends of Gillespie County Country Schools began the 2013 project with a professional assessment and conservation assisted by 60 volunteers at the Willow City School. They studied the known remaining painted school stage curtains in our county. Our purpose was to conserve and protect these fragile curtains and to answer basic questions, such as their age, who made them, how much did they cost, who paid for them, and how did these little country schools have such extraordinary stage curtains.
